Indo-Bangla Friendship Forum today honored nine members of Allied Indian Armed Forces, who participated in the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971, at a function at a city hotel.
They are – Major Jose Manavalan (retd), Major SN Shah (retd), Brig Praveen Kapur (retd), Col. PK Chattarjee (retd), Col. RP Grover (retd), Col PM Noik (retd), Major Vijaya Kumar (retd) and Liberation War martyrs Col. DN Das and Col. Amar Singh.
Prime Minister’s Private Industry and Investment Adviser Salman F Rahman handed over the honorary crests and floral bouquets to the friends of Liberation War.
Salman recalled the contribution of Indian government, armed forces and its people to the Bangladesh Liberation War.
Bangladesh will always remember the contribution of India in Bangladesh’s independence struggle, he added.
Maj. Gen. (retd) Azizur Rahman, Bir Uttam, Lt. Col. (retd) Sajjad Ali Zahid, Bir Pratik, Col. PK Chattarjee, late Col. DN Das’s wife Pushpashi Das, Shashi Singh and Journalist Abed Khan, among others, addressed the function.
