Uniform intake test system for all public universities by next year: Dipu Moni

News Desk : A uniform admission test system will be introduced for all public universities by next year, said Education Minister Dipu Moni.
She said: “The process is ongoing and by 2020, all public universities will introduce the system. Besides, seven public agricultural universities are set to introduce the uniform intake test this year.”
The minister came up with the disclosure while replying to a query of BNP MP Harunur Rashid at the parliament session today.
Dipu Moni further said: “Under the new system, admission seekers would be enrolled at all public universities based on the merit list prepared from one single test.”
Meanwhile in another programme today, the minister said that the government is set to introduce a common grade system for all students of JSC to graduation.
Dhaka University teacher Professor Shahadat Hossain has placed a draft proposal in this regard during the programme and it was shown that GPA-4 will be made the highest based on the number in JSC-JDC, SSC-equivalent, HSC-equivalent examinations.
In this new grading system, 90-100 will be considered ‘A+’ or GPA 4, 80-89 will be ‘A’ or GPA 3.5, 70-79 will be ‘B+’ or GPA 3, 60-69 will be ‘B’ or GPA 2.5, 50-59 will be ‘C+’ or GPA 2, 40-49 will be ‘C’ or GPA 1.5, 33-39 will be ‘D’ or GPA 1 and 0-32 will be ‘F’ or GPA 0.
The Education Minister said: “The grading system is changing in line with the world. It should be kept in mind that no one is harmed as a result of any change. In line with the fact that the same grading system is being followed in many countries of the developed world, it is important to change the grade for the benefit of our students.”
