Three of a family killed in Tangail accident

Three members of a family were killed and five others injured in a road accident at Goal Chattar near Bangabandhu Bridge East Side area under Kalihati upazila of the district this morning. The deceased were identified as Abdul Karim Sarker, 60, his wife Matowara Sarker, 50 and their daughter Kanij Fetema, 30. All of them hailed from Sirajganj Sadar upazila.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Bangabandhu Bridge East Thana Kazi Ayubur Rahman said the accident occurred when a microbus hit a covered van from behind in the area around 7.45 am as its driver lost control over the
steering, leaving three passengers of the microbus dead on the spot and five others injured.

“The wounded are taken to Sirajganj Sadar Hospital. All injured are family members. They were going to visit a relative in Tangail,” the OC said. Police seized both the vehicles and a case was filed in this connection, he added.
