President, PM pay homage to Bangabandhu in Tungipara

Online desk : President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday morning paid rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Gopalganj’s Tungipara on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the great leader.
The President and the Premier paid their homage by placing wreaths at the mazar (mausoleum) of Bangabandhu there.
President Hamid first laid a wreath at the mazar of Bangabandhu followed by the Prime Minister.
After placing the wreaths, they stood there in solemn silence for some time as a mark of profound respect to the memory of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. They offered Fateha and joined a munajat seeking eternal peace of the departed soul of Bangabandhu.
A smartly turned out contingent drawn from Bangladesh Army, Navy and Air Force gave an honour guard on the occasion.
Sheikh Hasina, later, placed another floral wreath at the mazar of Bangabandhu as the party chief.
Local Awami League leaders and activists welcomed the Prime Minister and her sister Sheikh Rehana alongwith the other family members when they reached there at around 9:55am. The birthday of Bangabandhu is being observed across the country as the National Children’s Day.
