Police constable dies of coronavirus infection in Dhaka

Online Desk : A police constable has died of deadly coronavirus infection at a residential hotel at Fakirerpool in the capital. Constable Jasim Uddin of the city’s Wari Police Outpost was under quarantine at the residential hotel where he died Tuesday night.
Wari Police Station SI Rubel Mallick confirmed the Daily Observer about it.
Constable Jasim Uddin was sent to quarantine several days ago after he showed coronavirus symptoms. His blood samples were also sent to the IEDCR on April 25 where he was found coronavirus positive after the report came on Wednesday morning following his death.
Rajarbagh Police Hospital sources said Jasim suddenly fell sick at the Fakirerpool hotel on Tuesday night. He was then rushed to the emergency department of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital by an ambulance where doctors pronounced him as dead at about 10:30pm.
Jasim hailed from Burirchang in Cumilla district. He left behind his wife, two daughters and a son. He was the first police personnel who died of COVID-19 in the country.
