Online Desk : After the BSMMU authorities termed the Gonoshasthaya Kendra (GK) Covid-19 test kits ineffective, Dr Bijon Kumar Sil, who led the team in developing the kits, on Wednesday said that they have trust in it and so will in future.

“We’ve full trust in the GK invented kits and so in future. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University did not formally informed us about their validation results. If they inform about the results of their study on the kits’ performance, we’ll give our formal reaction through a press conference,” said Dr Sil, also the head of microbiology department at the Gono Bishwabidyalay.

Earlier in the day, the BSMMU informed that the Rapid Dot Blot kits developed by the GK are not effective to detect coronavirus.

“The antibody kit can accurately detect only 11 to 40 per cent coronavirus cases in first two weeks of those patients showed symptoms,” said the BSMMU Vice-Chancellor Prof Kanak Kanti Barua at a press conference.
