Mohammad Nasim’s parliamentary seat declared vacant

Online Desk : Former health minister and 14-party spokesperson Mohammad Nasim’s Sirajganj-1 parliamentary constituency has been declared vacant following his death.
Dr Zafar Ahmed, Senior Secretary of the Parliament Secretariat, has made the announcement and its gazette was published on Wednesday.

The gazett said Sirajganj-1 constituency of the 11th National Parliament’s 62 No seat fell vacant following the death of Mohammad Nasim MP on 30 Jaisthya 1427/June 13 2020.

According to the constitution, the date of the by-election is determined by 90 days from the day of the vacancy the parliamentary seat. Accordingly, the Election Commission will have to hold election of Sirajganj-2 constituency by September 10. But, all elections have been postponed in the country because of the coronavirus pandemic.
