38 more deaths reported, cases cross 1,00,000

Online Desk : The coronavirus situation in Bangladesh is going to worse from bad gradually with new death toll and number of infection cases rising every day.

The DGHS reported 38 more deaths and 3,803 new cases on Thursday. Now, the death tally stood at 1,343 while the infection number at 1,2,229. Of the deceased, 31 were male and seven were female. In the past 24 hours, 61 laboratories across the country tested 16,259 samples.

Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof Dr Nasima Sultana confirmed the figure during daily online bulletin on coronavirus.

She urged everyone to stay at home and follow the health guidelines issued by the DGHS and World Health Organisation. She also requested people to use masks outdoor and wash hands with soap.

Some 1,975 corona patients have recovered in the last 24 hours, taking the total recovery number to 40,164. People should careful about children and pregnant woman at their family, Dr Nasima advised.

The global death toll from coronavirus rose to 448,474 as of Thursday morning, according to the Centre for System Science and Engineering of Johns Hopkins University. Besides, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases has gone up to 8,329,221.
