Human chain demands withdrawal of Kendua OC in Netrakona

Online desk ; A human chain was formed in Netrakona district town on Saturday demanding withdrawal of Kendua Police Station’s officer-in-charge.

Family members of local unit Jubo League leader Golam Mostafa and Sachetan Nagarikbrinda, Netrakona jointly organized the human chain in front of Netrakona District Press Club.

Kendua upazila parishad vice chairman Moffazzol Hossain Bhuyian, district unit Krishak League president Keshob Ranjan Sarker, district unit Chhatra League general secretary Dewan Jony and Jubo League leader Golam Mostafa, among others, spoke.

Golam Mostafa alleged that Kendua Police Station OC Mohammad Rasheduzzaman detained him and eight others in accusition of playing gambling and took them to the police station on June 4.

He further said the OC tortured him brutally in that night as he earlier complained against the OC to IGP.

Later, the victim’s wife lodged a complaint to DIG on June 8 which is under investigation now.

OC Mohammad Rasheduzzaman said a group is making false allegations against him. “I did not tortured anyone. Golam Mostafa was injured as he tried to flee during a drive against gambling,” he added.Superintendent of Netrakona police Akbar Ali Munshi said an investigation in this regard is underway.
