Dharla, Brahmaputra flow above danger level

Online desk ; The water level of the Dharla and Brahmaputra rivers in Kurigram are flowing above the danger level on Friday due to heavy rainfall and onrush of water from the hilly areas in the upstream.
The Dharla River is flowing 8 cm above the danger level at Setu point while Brahmaputra 4 cm above at Chilmari point, said Md Ariful Islam, executive engineer of Water Development Board (WDB) in Kurigram.

Consequently, 20,000 people in the low-lying areas and char lands marooned. Besides, seasonal crops including vegetables in the areas went under water, said engineer Ariful.

However, people are taking preparations to take shelter in high land.
