Day-labourer found dead along Thakurgaon border

Online desk : Police have recovered the body of a day-labourer from the border area of Thakurgaon. Deceased Raju Miah, 18, was the son of Ramij Uddin, a resident of Rohiya village under Haripur upazila. He worked at a brick klin in Panjab area in India.

Quoting the inhabitants, police and BGB said members of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) chased Raju and some other day-labourers on Sunday night when they were crossing the border area illegally.

They jumped in the River Nagar to save themselves. Others managed to swim ashore except Raju and he went missing.

Locals found his body on Tuesday afternoon and informed the police. Police recovered the body in the evening.

The body was sent to Thakurgaon Adhunik Sadar Hospital morgue, said Haripur Police Station OC Amiruzzaman. No case is filed yet.

Confirming the matter, Thakurgaon-50 BGB commander Lt Col Shahidul Islam said BGB sent a protest letter to BSF on Wednesday in this connection.
