Lalmonirhat flood situation remains unchanged

Online Desk : The overall flood situation in Lalmonirhat district remained unchanged although slight recession of water level of the River Teesta. The river is still flowing over the danger line while the water level of Dharla river has registered a rise.
According to the Water Development Board, the water of the Teesta River marked a fall by 12cm and was flowing 12cm above the danger level at 9 am on Sunday. It was flowing over 24 cm over red mark at the same time on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Dharla registered a sharp rise and was flowing 39 cm above the danger level at 9 am today. It was flowing 9cm above the danger level at the same time on Saturday.
Teesta was flowing 20cm above the danger level at Doani Point in Hatibandha upazila of the district in the morning.
Continuous rain in last three days has worsened the flood situation here, increasing the sufferings to the people.
Farmers in the low-lying and char areas have become frustrated failing to protect their crops.
The district administration promised to distribute relief. But, no food assistance or aid reached in most of the flood-hit places, alleged the affected people.
Deputy Commissioner Abu Zafar said the list of flood affected people is being prepared and distribution of relief will start soon.
After the flood of last week, second phrase of flood this week put around one lakh people living on the banks of rivers Teesta-Dharla into trouble.
