Scientist, writer Professor Dr Ali Asgar passes away

Online desk : Noted scientist and science writer Professor Dr Ali Asgar died of brain hemorrhage on Thursday. He was 82. Ali Asgar, former chairman of Kendrio Khelaghar Ashar, breathed his last at United Hospital in the capital at 4:30am, said the Udichi Shilpi Goshti publicity and information secretary Arif Noor.
Former Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology professor Dr Ali Asgar is survived by his wife and two sons. Ali Asgar had been teaching Physics at BUET for a long time.
Ali Asgar was buried after his namaz-e-janaza at Uttara Sector 4 in the capital on Thursday evening. He used to write on science and was the founding president of the Physics Society. He is one of the leading people of the Science Olympiad Committee.
He completed his graduation and post-graduation from Dhaka University respectively in 1960 and 1962. Later he achieved his doctorate degree from Southampton University, England in 1970. In a statement, Udichi Shilpi Goshti president Safiuddin Ahmed and general secretary Jamshed Anwar expressed their condolence at the death of Ali Asgar.
