Chargesheets in cases against Shahed will be given soon

Online Desk : Chargesheets in new cases against the arrested Regent Hospital chairman Mohammad Shahed would be submitted within the shortest possible time, said Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Sunday.
Besides, the old cases against him would be examined by police afresh, he said while speaking as the chief guest at a function at Bangladesh Press Institute (PIB) auditorium in Dhaka.

“Police have been discharging their duties and responsibilities in cases against Shahed. Investigation is still going on. We’ll submit chargesheet against him very soon. He took bail in several cases. We’ll look into all the cases anew,” he said.

The Home Minister said: “Many people start questioning how such frauds like Shahed works with the government or how the government recognises them. We’re also investigating it. Though you’ve suspicion in your mind, we’ve taken all these things very seriously. Who were involved with people like Shahed or who were those assisted him to reach at this level–we’re investigating all these things.”

“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is determined to establish rule of law in the country, and we are adamanat to ensure it,” he further said.

It may be recalled that on July 6, a mobile team of Rapid Action Batallion (RAB) launched drive at two branches of Regent Hospital receiving complaints of various irregularities, fraudulent practices, breaking the agreement with the government, issuing fake coronavirus reports and certificates, and taking money from patients.

On July 7, the RAB mobile court sealed off Regent Group’s head office, and two branches of Regent Hospital–one at Uttara and the other at Mirpur. Its chairman Md Shahed was arrested early in the morning on July 15 from the Labangabati river bank’s frontier area at village Komorpur under Debhata upazila in Satkhira district.
