Over 2 lakh people marooned in Sirajganj following 2nd phase of flood

Online desk : The flood situation of Sirajganj is unchanged as water of Jamuna River is still flowing 77cm above the danger level.

People who took shelter on embankments and high places have been facing immense suffeerings as rain again started from Sunday evening. Flood-affected people are suffered for lack of pure water and also facing troubles for want of toilets

More than two lakh inhabitants under 35 unions are marooned following second phase of flood. Educational institutions went under the water and crops have been washed away due to the force of the flood water.

Though, the water level in the river started to decrease from Saturday but it is flowing 77cm above the danger level around 9am on Monday.

The district Power Development Board Department deputy divisional engineer AKM Rafiqul Islam said the flood may hit the district for third time.

Deputy commissioner Faruq Ahmed said all necessary preparations have been taken to fight against the flood. Total 179 shelter centres have been opened for public and 33 medical team has been providing services.
