Online desk ; Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud has said the water-logging in the Dhaka city is less than before following rains. Besides, the Dhaka Wasa is implementing a Tk 100 crore project from last year to mitigate the problem, he added.
He was replying to questions of reporters at the Awami League political office in city’s Dhanmondi on Tuesday evening.
When his attention was drawn to the remarks of BNP leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi’s allegation of failure against the government for its preparations to tackle the current flood as ‘insufficient’, he suggested that the BNP to see their own face in the mirror to know what it did for the flood victims.
The minister said more than one dozen of planes of Bangladesh Air Force were damaged due to mismanagement of the BNP government during a cyclone. Begum Khaleda Zia after the cyclone told parliament that casualties in the cyclone were fewer than that of prediction.
“I’ve learnt to pay respect to the senior from my family and my leader as well. But the reality is that, when bodies of cyclone victims were floating on the water in Chattogram, BNP chairperson and former prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia changed her seven ‘sarees’ in a day on the occasion of the visit of a foreigner,” he said.
