Online Desk : Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed on Thursday conveyed a strong message for police officials to keep vigilance so that there is no extortion from vehicles transporting sacrificial animals ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha.
The IGP conveyed the message while delivering a speech in a video conference with all unit heads of police from the police headquarters on Thursday afternoon.
IGP Benazir also instructed keeping the movement of sacrificial animal-carrying vehicles on roads and waterways uninterrupted.
He also directed not to stop the sacrificial animals-laden transports and trawlers without any specific complaint.
He said the highway police and the concerned district police would set up camps if necessary to ensure the safety of the sacrificial animals-laden transports. In this case, the IGP has emphasised coordination with concerned units.
Benazir Ahmed asked the police officers to ensure health rules at cattle haats. “No-one can enter the cattle haat without a mask,” he said.
The IGP directed to maintain normal traffic system to ensure smooth movement of homebound people. No vehicle can be stopped for searching without a specific reason.
He said that vehicles without fitness will not be allowed to ply on the highways and roads. Besides, three-wheelers, Karimon and Nosimon will be stopped from plying highways, he added.
The IGP said there was a risk of an increase in some crimes due to the current Corona situation. He directed all concerned to increase patrol to prevent theft, robbery and other crimes in residential and commercial areas.
