Country successfully tackled corona pandemic: Health minister

Online Desk : Under the direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh has successfully managed to control the coronavirus pandemic where most of the countries have failed, said Health Minister Zahid Maleque.
“Around seven lakh people have died of coronavirus worldwide. Heads of the various countries, including developing countries, have been criticized for failing to make the right decisions to tackle the COVID-19. But, Bangladesh has successfully tackled the situation. Sheikh Hasina is being praised by different countries and the World Health Organization (WHO) for her right and timely decision,” he said at an aid distribution programme in Manikganj.
Manikganj district administration arranged the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s humanitarian aid programme for flood victims on Monday afternoon.
Bangladesh has a much lower coronavirus death rate than other countries, he said.
“Apart from the coronavirus pandemic, our country is affected by flood. But, so far not a single person has died of starvation,” the minister added.
Manikganj Deputy Commissioner SM Ferdous chaired the programme.
A total of Tk 300 in cash and 10 kgs of rice were distributed among each of over 100 flood victims at Garpara Shuvra Center in Sadar Upazila of Manikganj.
Superintendent of Police Rifat Rahman Shamim, District Awami League organisational secretary Sudeb Saha, among others, were present there.
