Fleeing of convict from jail: Six including chief prison guard suspended

Online Desk ; Six officials of Kashimpur Central Jail-2 in Gazipur district have been suspended on charge of convict Abu Bakar Siddique’s fleeing from the prison.

Besides, a department case has been filed against six more persons. IG (Prison) Brigadier General AKM Mostofa Kamal Pasha confirmed the matter.Jail sources said the accused 12 also include chief prison guard.

Besides, the Kashimpur Central Jail authorities formed a three-member inquiry committee, comprising DIG (Prisons), a senior jail super and a jailer to probe the fleeing of convict Abu Bakar Siddique.

Earlier, Abu Bakar went missing from the jail from Thursday evening. He was shifted from Rajshahi Central Jail to Kashimpur Central Jail in 2011 as a death sentence convict. His punishment was commuted to life sentence on July 27, 2012.

He also went missing on May 13 evening in 2015 after he hid himself in a septic tank at the cell area. After searching, he was subsequently rescued from the septic tank.
