Farmers of the village can not grow crops on their lands thus causes huge loss to them.

Affected farmers alleged that an influential quarter closed the drainage system at Chhoypara area during monsoon.

Unplanned excavation of ponds and construction of homesteads are attributed to be the reasons behind closure of drains under bridges and culverts in the area, creating huge water logging.

Upazila agriculture officer Nilima Jahan said Harunoggya is low-lying village, so that it goes under water after a little rain.

Water-logging has been created due to blocking of the drainage system, she added.

Kalai UNO M Mobarak Hossain Parvez told the Daily Observer that the upazila agriculture officer was sent to visit the spot. The matter will be taken into account with importance once the agriculture officer finishes her visit.
