Availability of vaccine will make mask use optional: Minister

Online desk ; Health Minister Zahid Malik has expressed the hope that availability of coronavirus vaccines will make the use of masks an optional matter.
“Wearing masks will be an optional matter in future after the discovery of coronavirus vaccine,” said the minister on Friday.

He urged people to wear masks till the availability of vaccines in Bangladesh.

The Health Minister made the remarks at a doa mahfil arranged to mark the death anniversary of former UP chairman Abdus Salam at Saturia upazila in Manikganj district.

He said, “We do not want to see even a single death by the coronavirus. Death rate of the virus in Bangladesh is less than any other country. The coronavirus death in Bangladesh is now 4,000 only, while it is 70,000 in India and 2 lakh in America.”

District Awami League joint secretary Sultan Azam Khan, additional superintendent of police (Sadar circle) Bhaskar Saha, upazila chairman Abdul Mazid, UNO Ashraful Alam, Tilli UP chairman Md Mursalin Babu and Gaht Para UP chairman Afsar Uddin Sarker, among others, were present at the programme.
