Woman found dead in launch cabin: Suspect held

Online Desk : Police have arrested the companion of the woman who was found dead in a cabin of a launch at Barishal Launch Ghat on Monday morning.

A team of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) arrested accused M Moniruzzaman, hails from Kapasia of Gazipur, from Mirpur-1 in capital Dhaka on Tuesday.

Police Superintendent Humayun Kabir of Barishal PBI informed this at a media briefing on Wednesday.

He said the accused confessed to the killing.

Barishal Sadar river police station SI Alak Chowdhury has filed a murder case with Kotwali Model police.

Barishal Sadar river police station sources said the deceased was identified as Jannatul Ferdous Laboni,29, wife of an electrician.

A mother of two children, Laboni used to stay with her parents at Pallabi-2 in Dhaka. Police identified the woman through her finger print.

Meanwhile, Laboni’s body was handed over to her father after autopsy on Tuesday.

CID’s Crime Scene Unit inspector Al Mamunur Rashid said Laboni was raped before killing.

She was going to Barishal with the man for getting a job.

Police recovered the body of Laboni from a cabin of Parabat-11 launch at Barishal Launch Ghat on Monday morning.
