Country reports 22 more deaths from COVID-19

Online Desk : With the deaths of 22 more people in the last 24 hours until 8:00 am on Friday, Bangladesh’s COVID-19 death count now stands at 4,881.
During this timeline, 1,541 fresh cases were reported, taking the total virus cases to 3,45,805.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed the matter through a press release signed by Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General of DGHS, on Friday afternoon.

Health authorities also reported 1,923 more recoveries in a day, taking the total number of recoveries to 2,52,335.

Among the newly deceased, 16 were men and six women. Of them, 13 in Dhaka, three in Chattogram, one in Rajshahi, one in Khulna, two in Sylhet, one in Mymensingh, and one in Rangpur divisions.

In the last 24 hours, 95 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country collected 12,814 samples and tested 12,730.

With this, a total of 17,96,509 samples were tested in the country.

The latest day’s infection rate is 12.11 per cent, compared to the sample tested, while the overall infection rate is 19.25.

Till now, the recovery rate is 72.97 per cent and the mortality rate is 1.41 per cent.

As of today, a total of 3,804 men (77.93 per cent) and 1,077 women (22.07 per cent) died of the deadly virus in the country.

Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus cases on March 8 and the first death on March 18.

According to Worldometer’s COVID-19 data, the deadly virus has killed 9,50,988 people globally and infected 3,0375,397 as of Friday afternoon.
