21 more die of COVID-19 in Bangladesh

Online Desk : Bangladesh on Thursday afternoon reported 21 deaths and 1,508 cases from coronavirus in last 24 hours.With the new figure, the total deaths from the deadly virus stood at 5,272 and cases at 3,64,987.
Meanwhile, a total of 1,591 patients made recovery in a day, taking the total number of recoveries to 2,77,078, said a press release signed by Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General of DGHS.
Currently, there are 82,637 active cases in the country.
Among the newly deceased, 16 were men and the rest five women. Of them, 11 are from Dhaka, three from Chittagong, two from Rangpur and five from Rajshahi divisions respectively.
In the last 24 hours, 108 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country collected 11,410 samples and tested 11,420.
With this, a total of 19,59,075 samples were tested in the country.
The latest day’s infection rate is 13.20 per cent, compared to the sample tested, while the overall infection rate is 18.63.On the other hand, the recovery rate is 75.91 per cent and the mortality rate is 1.44 per cent.
Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus cases on March 8 and the first death on March 18.
According to Worldometer’s COVID-19 data, the deadly virus has killed 10,19,249 people globally and infected 3,41,92,184 as of Thursday afternoon.
