5 arrested with snake venom worth Tk 85 cr in city

Online Desk : Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested five active members of the international snake venom smuggling ring with snake venom worth around Tk 85 crore in Rampura Police Station area of the capital on Friday.

The arrested are Shafiqul Islam, Jahirul Haque, Mazibur Rahman, Dulal and Moklesur Rahman.

On information, a team of RAB-12 conducted a drive in Chowdhurypara Iron Gate area in the afternoon and detained them.

RAB-12 Deputy Commander Major Mohammad Moshiur Rahman confirmed the matter in a press briefing in the area .

A total of 12 pounds of snake venom worth , six testing kit, CD and a manual were recovered from their possessions.

From the recovered manual, it was known that the venom was smuggled from France.
