BCL leaders among 3 die after ‘drinking excessive liquor’

Online desk : Three people including two Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leaders have died at Sonargaon upazila in Narayanganj reportedly after drinking liquor.

The deceased were identified as Jahid Hasan Babu, organizational secretary of Sonargaon BCL unit, BCL leader Mohsin, and driver Tofazzal.

Four more people are also undergoing treatment at different hospitals in Dhaka.

Meanwhile, the family of the deceased said they died of eating poisonous food.

Police and local sources said a group of 10-12 people took liquor in a party on Thursday night and fell sick.

They were admitted to different hospital in Sonargaon and Dhaka.

Mohsin and Tofazzal died on Friday night, and they were buried on Saturday morning.

On Saturday afternoon, Babu died while undergoing treatment at a hospital.

Joint convener of Sonargaon Awami League and Pirojpur union parishad charman engineer Masudur Rahman said they died from food poison.

Sonargaon Police Station officer in-charge (OC) Md Rafiqul Islam said three people died after drinking excessive liquor and four others are undergoing treatment at different hospitals.
