COVID-19: 16 more die, 718 new cases in 24hrs

The infection number stood at 5,24,020 as 718 more virus patients were detected in last 24 hours.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed the matter through a press release signed by Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General of DGHS, this afternoon.
Health authorities also reported 963 more recoveries over the preceding 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 4,68,681.
In the last 24 hours, 194 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country collected 14,791 samples and tested 14,363.
With this, a total of 33,85,775 samples were tested in the country.
Among the newly deceased, 10 were men and the rest six were women. Of them, 10 are from Dhaka, two from Sylhet, one from Mymensingh, Chattogram, Rajshahi and Khulna divisions each.
The infection rate is 5 per cent in the last 24 hours, compared to the samples tested, while the overall infection rate is 15.48 per cent.
So far, the recovery rate is 89.44 per cent and the mortality rate is 1.49 per cent.
Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus case on March 8 and the first death on March 18.
According to Worldometer’s COVID-19 data, the deadly virus has killed 19,55,360 people globally and infected 9,14,01,525 as of today afternoon.
