Speaker pays courtesy call on President

Online desk : Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury paid a courtesy call on President M Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban on Thursday evening.

During the meeting, the Speaker congratulated President Abdul Hamid for successfully serving the post of President for two terms, President’s Press Secretary Md. Joynal Abedin told newsmen after the meeting.

She also thanked the President for delivering the special address at the Special Session on the occasion of Golden Jubilee of Parliament.

President Hamid also thanked the Speaker for organizing the Golden Jubilee celebrations to mark the 50 years of Parliament.

The President called upon the new generations to know about the history and tradition of the Parliament.

The Head of the State added: “Besides, you will have the opportunity to know about the life and works of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman”.

“During the meeting, they discussed various issues of Parliament,” the press secretary added.

Deputy Speaker Shamsul Haque Tuku, Chief Whip Noor-e-Alam Chowdhury and Whips Atiur Rahman Atiq, Mahbub Ara Begum Gini and Abu Saeed Al-Mahmood Swapan accompanied her.

Concerned secretaries were present.
