LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Mohammad Tajul Islam today said the government’s main challenge is to make a developed Bangladesh as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
“We are marching ahead to implement Bangabandhu’s dream of building Bangladesh as Sonar Bangla,” he told a view-exchange meeting with Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE) officials as the chief guest in the city.
The minister visited the DPHE office to oversee the development activities undertaken by the government.
Chaired by LGRD secretary SM Golam Faruque, state minister for LGRD and Cooperatives Swapan Bhattacharya and chief engineer of DPHE M Saifur Rahman spoke on the occasion.
“Our target is to become a developed nation as the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been turned into a developing nation from extreme poverty level.” he said.
Tajul said, “We have to get over many new challenges and rid the country of corruption. Without indentifying failures and facing global challenges we cannot reach our goal.”
The meeting was told that currently 87 percent people of the country have been brought under safe drinking water facility while the open latrine system is brought to zero percent.
Replying to a question about city’s water logging, the minister said, “We will resolve water-logging problem by identifying its major causes.”
Speaking as the special guest Swapan Bhattacharya said that the government has been working to provide better services to common people, adding, “For building a developed Bangladesh we have to maintain zero tolerance policy against corruption.”
Earlier, officials of the DPHE greeted the minister and the state minister with bouquets.
