Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said the Jatiya Oikyafront is devoid of principle and ideology.
“The Jatiya Oikyafront, which was floated by Dr Kamal Hossain before the parliamentary election, lacks principle and ideology. It seemed since its formation that the alliance will not last long,” he said.
The minister said this to reporters while visiting the Suhrawardy Udyan to see for himself the preparations for holding the party’s ‘victory rally’ tomorrow at the historic site marking the AL’s landslide win in the December 30 national polls.
Quader said the very formation of the alliance existed elements of split.
As BNP is on the verge of split, so the Oikyafront will also fall apart, he said.
Asked whether the AL would take any measures to bring BNP in the upcoming upazila parishad election, Quader said BNP itself will join the polls if the party attaches importance to democracy.
About giving party’s nomination for reserved women seats, the AL general secretary said competent and dedicated aspirants will be given nominations.
AL Joint General Secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Organising Secretary and State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Cultural Affairs Secretary Asim Kumar Ukil and Relief and Social Welfare Secretary Sujit Roy Nandi were present on the occasion.
