Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) intends to make all its civic services digitalized and automated in phases for benefit
of the city dwellers.
“We are pledged bound to make the services transparent and accountable through freeing those from all sorts of corruption and manipulation,” said RCC Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton.
He was addressing as chief guest the inauguration of a month-long computer
training course and closing and certificate-giving ceremony of another
similar course here on Thursday afternoon.
RCC organized the courses for its ward councilors, officers and employees
at Rajshahi College Sheikh Russel Digital Laboratory.
Chaired by RCC Secretary Rejaul Karim, the meeting was addressed, among
others, by Panel Mayor Shariful Islam Babu and ward councilors Abdul Momin
and Nadia Begum and principal of Rajshahi College Prof Habibur Rahman.
Mayor Liton urged the trainees to put in their best efforts to make their
services more popular and dynamic so that they can earn trust and confidences
of the citizens through providing services to the community people.
He detailed the objectives, implementation strategy and status of the
digital programme saying the major objectives of the process are to provide
the people with all necessary services at their doorsteps, ensuring
accountability and transparency towards establishing a knowledge-based
society and good governance.
‘Digital Bangladesh’ was one of the major election pledges of the present
government, he added.
As part of fulfillment of this pledge, the government has established
digital centres and is providing necessary ICT services at the grassroots
level, he further said.
Liton said the grassroots people are getting their information related necessary services from the digital centers being operated in all areas. He urged the participants to supplement the government endeavor through the best uses of knowledge acquired from the training.
