Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury today said the relations between Bangladesh and Iran can be boost up by parliamentary practice and experiences.
“Iran is our friendly nation …there is a lot of similarities with culture, language and religious rituals between the two countries and there is more option to enhance the relations,” said the speaker while Iranian ambassador in Dhaka Mohammad Reza Nafar made a courtesy call on her at her Jatiya Sangsad office here.
Chaudhury said Bangladesh has set a development example in all spheres including economy and social sector. “Bangladesh has already achieved the eligibility criteria of developing country and the nation is trying relentlessly to get the status of middle-income one by 2021 under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina”.
The Iranian envoy congratulated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the Speaker for the victory in the 11th national parliament elections.
Meanwhile, Qatar also has expressed to give continuous support to Bangladesh.
The assurance came while Qatar Ambassador Ahmed Mohamed Al-Dehaimi paid a courtesy call on the Speaker at parliament office.
