President M Abdul Hamid today said Bangladesh always gives priority to enhance the bilateral relations with Malaysia as the country’s outgoing High Commissioner in Dhaka Madam Nur Ashikin binti Mohd Taib called on him at Bangabhaban here this afternoon.
President Hamid said bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Malaysia are very excellent and the ties have been expanding gradually, President’s Press Secretary Md Joynal Abedin told reporters after the meeting.
Noting that Malaysia is one of the development partners of Bangladesh, the President urged the Malaysian government to take more initiatives to increase exports of different world-standard Bangladeshi goods including medicine, jute, jute-made materials and leather.
The head of the state stressed on utilizing potentials between the two friendly countries to boost commerce and investment relations in the days to come.
He also emphasized on increasing investment in infrastructure and mineral sectors as well.
Thanking the envoy for successful completion of her tenure in Bangladesh, the President said, the trade, and connectivity between the peoples of Bangladesh and Malaysia increased during her assignment here.
Expressing his gratitude to the President and the Bangladesh government, the envoy hoped that the relations in different sectors between the two countries would enhance further in future.
Secretaries concerned to the President’s office and high officials of foreign ministry and Malaysian embassy were present on the occasion.
