The city unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) celebrated the 71st funding anniversary of student’s organisation
through colourful programmes on the Town Hall premises here on Thursday.

Shafi inaugurated the celebrations by hoisting of the national and party
flags, releasing balloons and pigeons as the chief guest.
Later, leaders and workers of city unit of BCL placed wreaths at the mural
of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the Bangabandhu
Square in the city.
The leaders and activists of city BCL cut a huge cake and played the
Bangabandhu’s Historic March 7 Speech at different areas on the city.
Later, a huge colourful procession with participation of thousands of
leaders and activists of city unity of BCL, AL and its associate bodies was
brought out on the city streets followed by massive students’ rallies and
discussion and cultural functions.
President of city unit of BCL Shafiur Rahman Swadhin presided over the
discussion moderated by its General Secretary Sheikh Asif at Town Hall
auditorium in the city.
Joint General Secretary of city AL Nawshad Rashid, Office Secretary of
district AL Tauhidur Rahman Tutul and its Education Affairs Secretary Jashem
Bin Hossain Jummon, Publicity Secretary of city AL Rezaul Islam Milan, former
BCL leaders Yunus Ali and Rafikul Islam, among others, addressed.
General Secretary of city BCL Sheikh Asif called upon leaders and workers
of the organisation to take a fresh vow to build a middle income nation by
2021 and developed Bangladesh by 2041 free from drugs, corruption, terrorism
and militancy.
Recalling the glorious pasts of BCL, Shafiur Rahman Swadhin urged the BCL
leaders and activists to work with the ideals of Father of the Nation
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in building a developed ‘Sonar Bangla’.
Shafiur Rahman Shafi suggested the BCL leaders to remain united and serve the people selflessly on way to build a developed Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to make independence meaningful for everyone.
