A total of Taka 4,988.37 crore has been realized as toll from the Bangabandhu Bridge in the last twenty years till
2018 since its operation in 1998.
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said this while
responding to a star marked question placed by treasury bench lawmaker M
Mamunur Rashid Kiron of Noakhali-3 in the Jatiya Sangsad here.
On the other hand, the minister said the construction cost of the bridge was
Taka 3,745.60 crore.
The minister, however, told the JS that the amount which is being realized as
toll from the bridge is being used for repayment of the loan provided by
development partners and other overall cost of the bridge authority including
maintenance cost of the bridge.
Meanwhile, the loan or credit provided by the development partners for construction of the bridge would be refunded by 2034, the minister added.
