National vitamin ‘A’ plus campaign (Second Round) will be held in eight upazilas of Jashore district on Saturday next in Jashore district
.A total of 3, 22, 69 children of 6 months to 59 months age group will be administered vitamin A plus capsule in Sadar, Bagherpara, Abhaynagar, Monirampur, Keshabpur, Jhikargacha, Chaugacha and Sharsa upazilas of the district.
Civil Surgeon office sources said, under the programme, the health department has taken adequate measures to provide vitamin-A capsule (blue colour) for 36,162 childrens aged six months to 11 months and vitamin-A capsule (red colour) to 2,85,907 children of tweleve months to 59 months age group.
Some 4,578 volunteers, 875 field level health workers, 337 supervisors have been engaged at 2,279 centres in 92 unions and pouroshavas under the district to make the programme successful, the sources said.
Health experts called upon the parents, teachers, public representatives, civil society members and media persons to make the upcoming National Vitamin A Plus Campaign successful.
Civil surgeon Dr Dilip Kumar Roy said, vitamin A to all under five years babies would increase their disease resistant capacity, reduce death risks, prevent night blindness and other diseases. District EPI Superintendent Mirza Sarwar Hossain said, the campaign will remain opene at selected centres from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm and also at the bus stands and floating places to bring all children under the programme.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) M Abdul Awal will inaugurate the vitamin ‘A’ plus campaign programme at Upasahar-Newtown Shishu Hospital at 9:00 am as chief guest.
