Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) has set a target to bring a total of 3,000 hectares of land under Boro cultivation this year.
Of the total, some 2,200 hectares of land have already been farmed and the
rest will be brought under the farming, said executive engineer of BADC of
Small Irrigation Division, Chittaranjan Roy.
To make the farming a grand success as many as 175 irrigation machines, of
them, 75 deep tube wells, 65 low lift pumps, and 35 shallow tube wells have
been kept fully operative, he also said.
A farmer of BADC command area of Sadar upazila said they are getting irrigation water from the machines of the BADC properly during the current Boro season. Over 1,27,700 hectares of land would be brought under the farming in the district this year, department of Agriculture office sources said.
