President M Abdul Hamid asked the Public Service Commission (PSC) to work sincerely so qualified candidates can get jobs as the PSC submitted its annual report-2018 to him at Bangabhaban here this afternoon.
“Work sincerely and honestly so that the worthy and meritorious people can get jobs of the republic after PSC’s recommendation,” Press Secretary Joynal Abedin quoted the President as saying during the meeting.
The head of the state also advised the PSC to ensure the optimum use of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in all activities of the commission.
He said country is proceeding towards a tremendous development in all sectors and the PSC will have to work with efficiency to accelerate the ongoing development and progress of the government.
President Hamid also expressed satisfaction over the overall activities of the commission.
During the meeting, the 15-member PSC delegation, led by its Chairman Dr Mohammed Sadique, apprised the President of the overall activities of the commission as well as various aspects of the report.
Sadique informed the President that from 2009 to 2018 the PSC recommended 60,551 successful candidates – 26,584 cadres and 33, 967 non-cadres – for jobs in different categories.
He mentioned that the PSC is trying to attain people’s trust by ensuring more accuracy in examining and scrutinizing the papers of the examinees with inclusion of the third examiner for each paper if any controversy arises being a gap of 20 marks between the two examiners in each paper.
“Besides, in the 200-mark written test, the PSC introduced 50 marks on the history of freedom struggle and Liberation War,” Dr Sadique added.
