The National Voters’ Day-2019 will be observed tomorrow in the capital and elsewhere across the country in a befitting manner.
With the theme “Will be Voter, Will Vote”, the country is observing the “National Voters Day” for the first time amid holding various programmes, including rally and discussion.
President M Abdul Hamid also issued a message on the occasion wishing a success of the day and hoping that this programme would create awareness among the people to exercise their voting rights.
Terming the observance of the day is a time-befitting decision of the government as the basic foundation of the democratic culture and development remained hidden in the day’s theme.
“I urge all so that no eligible citizen remains out of the voters list anyway,” the head of the state hoped.
President Hamid also thanked all concerned of the Election Commission for their database initiatives and introducing the National Identity Cards (NIDs), which is helping to scrutiny the real citizens while providing salaries of government’s employees, and pensions, allowances for freedom fighters, elderly people and widows.
On the occasion, President M Abdul Hamid is scheduled to address a discussion at the Election Commission Auditorium at 4 pm on the day.
The Election Commission (EC) in presence of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda and other four election commissioners will bring out a procession from Manik Mia Avenue in front of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban at 9 am tomorrow.
The rally will end at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) after parading different thoroughfares of the city.
