“Some 81 new schemes involving about Taka 108,616 crore have been taken in the railway sector since 2009,” Railway Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujan said this today while responding to a written question placed by treasury bench member Ali Azam of Bhola-2 with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.
He said 68 projects out of the 81 have already been completed, while 48 projects, including 45 investment schemes and three technical assistance projects, were included in the Annual Development Programme (ADP) of the current fiscal.
The railway minister said allocation of Taka 11,331.48 crore has been given to Bangladesh Railway during the current fiscal.
Noting that an initiative has been taken to update the mega plan of Bangladesh Railway, Sujan said the government is undertaking and implementing many development projects under the mega plan with a view to developing and expanding the railway.
