A high-level border conference between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Myanmar Police Force (MPF) was held in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar on Monday, said a press release here today.
Director General of BGB Major General Md. Shafeenul Islam led an 11-member Bangladesh delegation while MPF Chief of Police General Staff Police Brigadier General Myo Than led a 17-member team of Myanmar.
BGB’s high officials, senior officials from the Prime Minister’s Office, ministries of home and foreign affairs were present.
The Myanmar team included officials of defense, union government, labour, immigration and population.
During the meeting, Bangladesh delegation focused on checking yaba smuggling, cross border terrorism, sending back prisoners after the end of their jail terms, exchanging information of border security and law enforcement, holding joint patrols and promoting cooperation between the border guard forces of the two countries.
