Prime Minister’s Energy Adviser Dr Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, Bir Bikram, today said the innovative programmes of the power division increased confidence of the people.
” ’Alor Feriwala’, an initiative for providing quick power connection to slum dwellers has reposed confidence on the people,” he said this while opening the Innovation Showcasing-2019 as the chief guest at Bidyut Bhaban.
The adviser said activities of the Bangladesh Energy and Power Research Council (EPRC) should be linked with innovative programmes.
Speaking at the programme as the special guest, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid urged authorities for adopting coordinated projects for development.
“Decision and development are related with a thread. It is essential to increase use of technology to make quick decisions,” he said.
The innovative showcasing selected five enterprises for awards out of 25 pilot initiatives of the showcasing.
The winners of the organizations are – Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB), Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development Authority (SREDA), Dhaka Power Distribution Company Limited, Dhaka Electric Supply Company Limited (DESCO) and West Zone Power Distribution Company Limited.
Chaired by power division secretary Dr Ahmed Kaikaus, the closing ceremony was also addressed, among others, by secretary (Coordination and Establishment) of cabinet division Dr Shamsul Arefin, director of a2i Mostafizur Rahman and additional secretary of power division Maksuda Begum.
