Awami League Presidium Member and lawmaker Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim’s grandson Zayan Chowdhury was killed in the series blasts in Sri Lanka yesterday.
Confirming the death, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan told BSS that he visited Sheikh Selim’s residence at Banani to express solidarity and conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family over the sudden death of Zayan.
“We are very shocked at the death of minor boy Zayan as he was there with his parents,” he said.
Sheikh Selim’s son –in-law Moshiul Haque Chowdhury prince was also injured in the attack and is currently undergoing treatment in Colombo.

Earlier, Zayan went to Sri Lanka with his parents and was staying at one of the hotels targeted in the series bombings.
Sheikh Selim is a paternal cousin of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The series of blasts at churches and hotels in and outside Sri Lanka’s capital killed at least 290 people and injured around 500 on Easter Sunday. It was the nation’s worst violence since a bloody civil war ended a decade ago.
