Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested one person with 65,100 pieces of fake Bidi band-roll worth Taka 4.55-lakh and Taka 58,750 in cash from his possession in Haragachh area of the district on Friday night.
“An operational team of the Crime Prevention Specialised Company of RAB- 13 held the man with fake Bidi band-roll and money from Menaz and Padma Bidi Factories under Haragachh Thana of Rangpur Metropolitan Police,” a press release said today.
The arrested person was identified as AHM Mahmud Hassan alias Don, 34, son of Abul Mokdum of village Dalalhat Sabantari of Haragachh Thana under jurisdiction of Rangpur Metropolitan Police.
During primary interrogation, the arrested person admitted his involvement in collecting and trading with fake Bidi band-roll for a long time to assist the local Bidi Factories in evading huge government revenue annually.
“After filing a case in this connection, the elite force handed over the arrested to Haragachh Thana of Rangpur Metropolitan Police today,” the release added.
