News Desk : The High Court is set to deliver its order on a plea filed by Robi seeking an injunction on a decision of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) to realise dues from the mobile operator on Thursday.
An HC bench comprising of Justice Mamnoon Rahman and Justice Khizir Hayat today deferred the previous date to Thursday.
Robi’s lawyer Kazi Ershadul Alam said the HC was due to pass its order today but it deferred the date until Thursday.
On July 31, BTRC issued a letter to Robi demanding payment of Tk 867.23 crore.
On August 25, Robi filed a case against the payment demand with a lower court and sought temporary injunction on the BTRC’s letter which was turned down.
Robi then filed an appeal with the High Court seeking temporary injunction on the BTRC’s letter seeking money.
Robi owes Tk 867.23 crore to the government, including Tk 197.21 crore to the National Board of Revenue, according to the ‘disputed’ BTRC audit.
On September 5, the telecom regulator issued show-causes notices to Robi and Grameenphone seeking explanation as to why their 2G and 3G licences should not be revoked for failure to pay dues within 30 days.
