Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today said her government will implement the 20-year-long second perspective plan to transform Bangladesh into a developed and prosperous country in South Asia by 2041.
“We want to turn Bangladesh into a developed and prosperous country in South Asia by 2041. To achieve the goal, we’re executing the first perspective plan, while we’re set to implement the second perspective plan 2021-2041,” she said.
The prime minister made the comments while witnessing a power point presentation on “Bangladesh’s 2nd Perspective Plan 2021-2041” at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) here. The premier said after assuming office, her government undertook some immediate plans for speeding up the country’s development.
“We adopted and implemented the fifth and sixth five-year plans, while the seventh five-year plan is under execution. Alongside the five-year plans, we’ve formulated a long-term perspective plan 2010-2021, the first of its kind in the country,” she said.
Sheikh Hasina said that Bangladesh is marching ahead and it would move further towards development and prosperity in the days to come.
Addressing the event, Planning Minister MA Mannan termed the perspective plan “a dream document” to transform Bangladesh into a developed and prosperous country as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
He said the 20-year-long second perspective plan would be implemented within the next four five-year plans starting from 2021.
Senior Secretary and Member of the Planning Commission Shamsul Alam highlighted key features of the second perspective plan through the power point presentation.
Agriculture Minister Dr Abdur Razzaque, Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, Industries Minister Nurul Mazid Mahmud Humayun, Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Md Shahab Uddin, PM’s Advisors HT Imam, Dr Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury and Dr Mashiur Rahman, Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam, PM’s Principal Secretary Md Nojibur Rahman, Chief Coordinator on the SDG Affairs at the PMO Md Abul Kalam Azad, PMO Secretary Sajjadul Hassan, and PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim, among others, were present on the occasion.
