Farmers in the district are expecting bumper production of T-Aman (Transplanted Aman) this year. Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) said good production of Aman paddy is expected during the current season as the government has provided necessary agri-inputs including quality seeds and fertilizer to the farmers. They also attributed good production of the staple crop to favourable weather condition.
Farmers have already harvested T- Aman on 22,300 hectares of land while they cultivated the paddy on 1,06,185 hectares of land in all the seven upazilas of the district this year, the office sources said. The DAE office said a total of 12,600 hectares of land were brought under the high breed variety paddy while 8,940 hectares under high yielding variety and 760 hectares under local variety.
“Farmers are expecting good yield of T-Aman this year due to favourable weather,” Deputy Director of the DAE office in Jamalpur Md Aminul Islam said, adding that harvesting of the paddy will be completed by mid December this year.
