Foreign Minister Dr Abdul Momen today briefed Army Chief General Aziz Ahmed about latter’s upcoming visit to Myanmar at foreign ministry here. “It’s just a routine tour …as like we do visit other countries to increase bilateral cooperation and enhance military engagement,” General Aziz told reporters briefly after emerging from the meeting with Momen at foreign ministry here.
The Bangladesh army chief is schedule to visit Myanmar this month at an official bilateral routine visit. Earlier at a briefing last week, the foreign minister said the upcoming army chief’s visit to Myanmar will open ‘another line of negotiation’ between Dhaka and Naypyidaw in resolving the Rohingya crisis.
“I think it (army chief’s visit) will bring good outcome (in resolving Rohingya crisis),” he said, adding that Dhaka would like to resolve the Rohingya crisis through dialogue with Naypyidaw.
