A Dhaka court today placed Daily Sangram Editor Abul Asad on three-day remand in a case lodged under Digital Security Act (DSA).
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Moinul Islam passed the order as investigation officer (IO) and inspector (operation) of Hatirjheel Police Station Golam Azam produced Asad before court and pleaded to place him on five-day remand.
The case was filed against the accused on December 13 for publishing report terming convicted war criminal Abdul Qader Mollah, who was executed in 2013 after completion of all legal procedures, a martyr.
Muktijuddho Manch, a platform of pro-liberation youths, on December 13 showed protest over the incident, set copies of the newspaper on fire in front of its office and later vandalized it. Police later took Abul Asad into custody.
