Online Desk ; The High Court (HC) today said authorities should arrange mobile court monitoring to prevent illegal stockpiling and business of face masks amid coronavirus fear.
A High Court division bench comprising Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and Justice KM Kamrul Kader came up with the observation while holding hearing on a report on government steps to prevent deadly coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country.
Deputy Attorney General ABM Abdullah Al Mahmud Bashar presented the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) report before the court today. Earlier in the day DGHS Director Dr Md Aminul Hasan submitted the report to the court.
The High Court on March 5 had passed a suo moto order, asking Ministry of Health and Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) to submit the report on government steps, today.
The court had also passed verbal directions to Ministry of Health and DGHS to inform it about the tests being carried out on incoming passengers in different ports of the country to detect coronavirus, whether the persons doing the tests are properly trained and the equipment being used are adequate and arranging separate cabins in all public and private hospitals to treat coronavirus patients.
Government, it said, has to import necessary equipment on emergency basis to detect coronavirus in different hospitals and ports.
